Shai Yune

Hailing from the snowy cedar forests of a distant island, Shai Yune is a scholar of Sanctuary’s notable Arcane University. A mild-mannered and introspective novitiate of the School of Illusion, he is slight and striking, with the wintry complexion and coal-black hair of a northerner. His waifish build, pleasing looks, and tendency to hide himself from fingertip to chin in dark layers lead strangers to mistake him frequently for a young woman. His eyes are a dull lichen green. He is rarely spotted without his sooty owl familiar, Alloces, nestled watchfully in the folds of his scarves.

Though his reserved and private nature can make him seem enigmatic or even evasive, Shai is polite and humble in character and something of a people pleaser. He is embarrassed by attention and prefers to keep out of the spotlight when possible, possessing a quick, tactical mind with which he problem-solves at a distance. He enjoys intellectual challenges and harbors a passionate interest in all things related to magic and lore. He is cautious and meticulous in his pursuit of knowledge, but has shown himself willing to risk personal harm for it. He is also kind, and beneath his secretive exterior, earnestly affectionate. His looks and quiet intensity have made him, unwittingly, a popular romantic interest among his peers on campus, easily idealized from afar. He appreciates well-kept libraries, strategy games, and an excellent cup of tea.
